From the publisher:
Jana Schulz (born 1984, lives and works in Berlin) initiates film and photographic encounters with initially unknown men, in which proximity arises in the process of recording: performative, together, situational. It observes structures and dynamics within social groups and expands its documentary approach to include fictional elements.
With her work, she explores the inner world of male relationships, including in her latest photographic series, which raises questions about masculinity at the transition to adulthood. In the center is a portrait of the South African Bathenkosi Sphesihle Luphalule, his play with common role models and the search for himself. Tetris B Mountaingoat encourages reflection on identity beyond common attributions. With a text by Logan February.
