Rorke’s Drift ELC Art & Craft Centre

This selection of ceramics from the Rorke’s Drift Evangelical Lutheran Church Arts and Craft Centre in KwaZulu-Natal was sourced during A4 Store curator Daniel Malan’s recent research trip to the centre’s workshops in July 2026. Each vessel is signed by its maker and embossed with the Rorke’s Drift stamp. While the centre once played an invaluable role in supporting South African cultural production under apartheid and counts among its alumni leading artists and mentors, at present, its future is uncertain, its workshops shuttered and kiln left cold.
